Senior Accounting Specialist – Istanbul Free Zone
Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Accounting Specialist to join our operations at the Istanbul Free Zone. The role will be responsible for maintaining accounting records in compliance with free zone regulations, as well as managing cost and inventory tracking, invoicing, budgeting, and tax processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field
- 5–10 years of accounting experience, preferably in free zone companies
- Solid knowledge of Free Zone Legislation, Uniform Chart of Accounts, Tax Procedure Law, and related regulations
- Experienced in tax return processes (VAT, withholding, stamp duty, provisional tax, corporate tax)
- Knowledge of import, export, and free zone-specific transaction processes
- Preferably holds a CPA (SMMM) license
- Proficient in ERP and accounting software (e.g., Logo, Mikro)
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications, particularly Excel
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all accounting records related to free zone operations are kept in compliance with regulations and company procedures
- Record, review, and verify daily accounting transactions
- Manage invoicing and transaction processes specific to free zone operations
- Monitor and record accounting transactions related to import and export activities
- Prepare tax returns (VAT, withholding, stamp duty, provisional tax, corporate tax) and ensure timely fulfillment of all legal obligations
- Prepare financial statements and periodic management reports
- Record and monitor bank transactions and cash flow operations
- Liaise with tax authorities, independent auditors, and other regulatory institutions
- Keep up to date with legislative changes in free zone regulations and implement accordingly
